Academy Overview

Following is an overview of the District 5010 Leadership Academy and how it came to be.

  • Founded 1998 in District 5110 to train and prepare past club presidents to assume positions of leadership at the District Level.

  • District 5010 adopted program in 2006

  • Electronic / correspondence format, nine-month program.

  • Extensive use of Internet for course work

  • Printed materials from RI provided to each student

  • All additional material is downloaded from the Internet.

  • Six courses – Two semesters – Six teams of instructors in

  • In the first year the Students are nominated by the Leadership Committee.

  • Maximum students admitted each year is twenty (20).

  • Students are required to sign an “Agreement of Understanding” before being admitted.  This Agreement outlines all of the requirements for participation in the Leadership Academy program so they will not be “surprised” once the courses begin as to just how much work and time is involved in the program.

  • Some activities / events throughout the year are mandatory.

  • All testing is done online using the “Hosted Test” service.

  • The curriculum correlates with the RI Recommended “Club Leadership Plan”
